The Kherson shipyard of Smart Maritime Group (SMG, Kherson) accepted for conversion the first 2 out of 6 coaster vessels belonging to the Dutch company EemsWerken B.V. - EEMS Servant and EEMS Solar.
The vessels will undergo conversion in the frame of the corresponding contract signed at the end of 2020.
Coasters EEMS Servant and EEMS Solar built in 2010 are designed for coastal transportation of the general cargo. The vessels were built according to a standard design: maximum length - 87.27 m, width - 11.42 m, deadweight - 2620 tons.
Each coaster will be extended for 12 meters, it will have two holds with increase of the deadweight in average 20%.
For the purpose of this event, the Kherson shipyard was visited by the director of EemsWerken B.V. Gertjan Kornet and Project Superintendent Ron Stroo. The guests inspected the workshops of the shipyard, examined the already manufactured sections and expressed satisfaction with the quality of the work.
"We are glad to be here and hope for the successful modernization of 6 vessels, which in the future will lead to a long-term partnership with the shipyard," said Gertjan Kornet.
Dmytro Krasnikov, Director General of the Smart Maritime Group, noted that modernization is becoming increasingly popular in Europe today, since it can significantly improve not only the economic, but also the environmental efficiency of the vessel.
“This is a very important stage for us, because over the past 10 years this is the first new customer from Europe,” stressed the Director General.
